Frequently asked

The UV number doesn't match my weather app. Mr. Tan pulls live data from Open-Meteo every 10 minutes. If your weather app uses a different provider or the data is more than 10 minutes old, the numbers will differ. Pull-to-refresh on the Home screen to fetch the latest.

Notifications don't fire. Make sure you allowed notifications during onboarding. Check iOS Settings → Mr. Tan → Notifications. Reapply, turn-over and hydration reminders only fire while a session is running.

My spoken alerts are silent. The app uses custom notification sounds; they play through your device's ringer volume, not media volume. Silent mode also silences them. Toggle "Spoken alerts" off in Settings if you'd rather have the default chime.

My safe time seems too short or too long. Check your profile: skin type, protection type + SPF, acclimatization, age group and skin sensitivity flag all change the math. Try Settings → Reset everything if you want a clean profile.

The Live Activity doesn't appear on my Lock Screen. Requires iOS 16.2 or later. Check iOS Settings → Mr. Tan → Live Activities is on, and Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Live Activities is on. Start a session from the Home screen; the Live Activity appears within seconds.

My vacation planner shows no forecast for a future trip. Open-Meteo only provides forecast data ~14 days ahead. Trips further out still save; the forecast fills in automatically as the dates approach.

I bought the lifetime unlock but a new device still shows the paywall. Open the paywall and tap "Restore purchase". Restoration uses your Apple ID; both devices must be signed into the same Apple ID.

Can I use Mr. Tan without a network? Yes — the app caches the last UV reading and continues to calculate based on it. Sun position is computed locally and always works offline.

How do I delete my data? Settings → "Reset everything", or delete the app from your home screen. Both wipe everything on-device.
